Conference registration closed on 12 June. Early bird registration closed on 30 May. Late registration closed on 12 June. You will only qualify for reduced conference rates if you had already updated your 2008 membership at the time of registration.

A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Indian Sociological Society. Proff Simon Bekker and Ken Jubber were honoured as respected senior sociologists.  Below Prof Jubber receives a token of appreciation of his inspiration from SASA president Dr Simon Mapadimeng.

Letitia Smuts of the University of Johannesburg received the first prize in the student essay competition, below. The second prize went to Marius Tredoux of Stellenbosch University. Prof Ari Sitas expressed the view that all four prize-winning student  essays reflected that fact that South African sociology was booming.
